Adding new content

Using content types

In Drupal we use content types to create our content. It is important you understands what content types are and how to use them. If you are not yet familiar with content types and how they work, please visit this the content types page.

Creating new content

When you want to create new content you will be first need to navigate to the 'shortcuts' section at the top where you can navigate to the Content hub or click 'add content' (highlighted in the screenshot). Depending on the site and your access levels the amount of shortcuts (and other options at the top) may vary but all editors should be able to see “Content” and “Add content”.

You can either directly click “Add content” from the shortcuts or get there by click the blue “Add content” button on the content page.

You will now need to select which content type you want to use. Each content type will have a brief description of the features available for that content type. If you are unsure, check in with your team as they may have a preferred content type for the type of content you are about to publish.

You will now see a list of all available content types and their descriptions. For more information on content types visit the content-types page.

Writing the content

Once you have selected the content type you can start writing the content!

Note that any field with a red asterisk is a required field, you will not be able to save the page unless all these required fields have been filled out. Depending on the content type, there may be several different required fields across the different tabs.
